Design:Patients were randomized to either placebo (n = 15) or azithromycin (Z-Pack) treatment for 7 consecutive days. Setting:A tertiary referral center. We conducted a single-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group, randomized study to assess the efficacy of azithromycin in treating acute uncomplicated chlamydial infection of women with recurrent chlamydia.
Main outcome measure:Recurrent chlamydia infection, defined as the presence of at least 50% positive chlamydia test results within one year of the diagnosis of a chlamydia infection.
